The 44th annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival continued Saturday with a hoolaulea and bon dance at Keauhou Shopping Center.
The multi-generational, multi-cultural celebration of Kona coffee included a kids’ world, hands-on cultural workshop, interactive Global Village, ethnic food market, lei contest and live entertainment. The day ended with traditional taiko drummers and a bon dance showcasing more than 200 paper lanterns, according to organizers.
The festival continues today with the KBXtreme Scholarship Bowling Tournament, a talk story with Maile Mitchell about pioneering efforts in the cultivation and promotion of Kona coffee and the festival finale, Celebrate Kona Day, featuring family-friendly events along Alii Drive from Kailua Pier to Waterfront Row.
